Regan Nicholls

Paintings on Jade - Freestanding sculptures.

Regan is a very well known painter with an affinity to Pounamu and jade so has combined the two.
Each miniature artwork is painstakingly hand painted onto specially selected pieces jade to show the beauty of both the art and the stone.

His designs are deceptively simple in form but embody an aura of power and grace with stunning detail and artistry.

Regan's work is highly sought after world wide and has been displayed in just a few select galleries including New Zealand's national museum TePapa
Every piece is signed by the artist.

These very unique artworks are simply stunning and as each is hand painted, no two can ever be exactly the same.

As these amazing artworks can not be replaced if lost or stolen in the post we highly recommend choosing the insured courier delivery option.

About The Artists - Regan Nicholls

Regan Nicholls has grown up around Pounamu Greenstone and jade all his life.
His father is a carver of Greenstone souvenirs and jewelry in Auckland, and as a child Regan used to draw and adapt the different designs he saw his father making.

It was during his time carving in his father’s factory that Regan first developed the techniques for painting on stone. It was these techniques which paid for his university years, ultimately resulting in a Bachelor of Graphic Design degree.
During the intervening years Regan worked as an Art and Design teacher at Otahuhu College. It took getting married and following his wife to Wellington to reawaken the Pounamu Greenstone painting of his youth.

Each hand painted piece is completely unique and can never be reproduced the same way again. This is because of the different qualities in the stone and because each subject finds it’s own expression to suit those qualities. The surface is completed with a resin coating which gives the work a professional finish. It seems like the perfect match, bringing New Zealand icons and Pounamu together in this way.
